Oggi finalmente dopo molto tempo ho reinstallato Ubuntu Linux. Dopo averlo installato, la prima cosa che ho fatto è stato installare Compiz Fusion. Così ho deciso di fare una guida di come ho fatto io, se per caso qualcuno di voi ne avesse bisogno. La procedura è molto semplice, e i comandi li ho presi parzialmente dal blog di pollycoke.
Prima di tutto dovete aggiungere questi repository al file sources.list, quindi digitate da terminale:
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
ed aggiungete i seguenti repository:
deb http://download.tuxfamily.org/3v1deb feisty eyecandy
deb-src http://download.tuxfamily.org/3v1deb feisty eyecandy
fatto ciò date questo comando per autenticarli:
wget http://download.tuxfamily.org/3v1deb/DD800CD9.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add -
Dopo di che dovete aggiornare il database di APT, ed installare i pacchetti necessari, così digitate:
sudo apt-get update
quindi procedete rimuovendo la vecchia versione di Compiz e l’applet “Desktop Effects”(obbligatorio):
sudo apt-get remove compiz-core desktop-effects
ripulite eventuali vecchie configurazioni o plugin (consigliato):
rm -rf ~/.compiz
gconftool-2 --shutdown
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/compiz
Adesso finalmente possiamo procedere con l’installazione di Compiz Fusion in 3 soli passi.
1. Installare Compiz, il nucleo originale di David Reveman:
sudo apt-get install compiz-gnome
2. Installare il nuovo configuratore:
sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager libcompizconfig-backend-gconf
3. Installare i plugin aggiuntivi, ossia Compiz Fusion:
sudo apt-get install compiz-fusion-*
Fatto questo avrete già tutto installato e pronto per essere avviato. Per provare velocemente le nuove funzionalità basterà avviare Compiz Fusion con il comando:
compiz --replace -v &
Così se tutto è andato bene, potrete far partire Compiz Fusion ad ogni avvio del sistema, quindi per fare ciò andate su Sistema—>Preferenza—>Sessioni, e fate click su Nuovo, in Nome scrivete Compiz, mentre in Comando scrivete compiz –replace -v &.
Adesso riavviate e godetevi tutto lo spettacolo di questo desktop. Per aggiungere o disattivare plugin andate su Sistema—>Preferenze—>CompizConfig Settings Manager.

I trattini come hai detto tu devono essere due, se ne vedi uno solo è la formattazione di WordPress, ma io ne ho scritti due. 😉 Per attivare il cubo 3D invece devi andare su Sistema—>Preferenze—>CompizConfig Settings Manager e metti il segno di spunta in Cubo Desktop. Ciao 😉

Si quello basta per il cubo 3D, per cambiare faccia puoi premere Ctrl+Alt+Freccia destra o sinistra. Poi dipende anche dal tipo di mouse che hai, io ad esempio lo posso fare anche con il mouse.

come mai? ho una ATI 9600 su Ubuntu 7.04ff… help!
Credo che il problema sia proprio la tua scheda video, in quanto le ATI non vanno molto daccordo con il desktop 3D. Prova a dare un’occhiata qui
Anche a me risultano solo due facce 😦 tu hai risolto?
A me ne risultano 4, ma forse perchè io già avevo impostato 4 desktop, per averne 4 devi disattivare CompizFusion, poi vai nel pannello in basso dove ci sono gli schermi, fai click col tasto destro del mouse sopra uno schermo, poi fai click su preferenze, imposti 4 aree di lavoro, infine riattivi CompizFusion e adesso ne dovresti avere 4. 😉
L’ho voluto provare su un acer aspire 1640 con scheda video intel.
Premetto di non essere un espertone di linux, sto muovendo i primi passi proprio con Ubuntu, ma devo dire che nonostante l’hardware sia tutt’altro che cutting edge, l’aggeggino funziona e anche bene 🙂
Certe cose mi appaiono un po’ leziose ma è senz’altro una chicca per gli occhi.

Scusate dopo averlo installato e configurato.. come faccio a farlo ruotare? E A DIMINUIRE E AUMENTARE LO ZOOM?
Ciao, per farlo ruotare devvi tenere premuto ctrl+alt+tasto sinistro del mouse, mentre aumentare e diminuire lo zoom devi avere attivo il plugin “Zoom Desktop”, e poi premere il tasto “Super” ovvero quello con il simbolo di Windows e far girare la rotellina del mouse.
ok… ma quando attivo Compiz la barra sopra delle finestre si toglie.. come devo fare per risolvere il problema?
Ma che gestore di finestre usi? Se usi Emerald prova a dare come comando dopo di

Io non so precisamente che gestore finestre usa KDE, io su Gnome uso il comando:

Quando digito il comando:

mi dice:

E: Impossibile trovare compizconfig-settings-manager”

Ciao, ho installato tutto, ma mi da il classico problema: non mi si vedono i bordi delle finestre… che faccio? se reinstallo metacity avendo disinstallato effetti desktop nn ho più neanche gli effetti predefiniti di ubuntu…
forse ho fatto una cacchiata a installare compiz perché la scheda video è quella intel integrata del mio portatile???? 😦

Non ti preoccupare capita quasi a tutti che se ne vanno i bordi delle finestre, come ho già detto basta dare questi due comandi:

è un problema di scheda video? io ho una integrata VIA Technologies, Inc. S3 Unichrome Pro VGA Adapter. dici che non c’è speranza?

Ciao, io purtroppo non uso Debian quindi non conosco i Repository, comunque i comandi dovrebbero essere gli stessi visto che Ubuntu deriva da Debian.

Per mettere i bordi devi avere un gestore finestre, se usi quello di gnome scrivi da terminale:
metacity --replacementre se usi emerald scriviemerald --replaceCiao. 😉ho attivato il cubo 3D, ma al posto del cubo visualizzo un quadrato, come mai ???
Forse perchè avevi impostati solo 2 desktop, apri il CompizConfig Setting Manager, poi vai su Opzioni Generali—>Desktop Size, e dove c’è scritto “Dimensioni Virtuali Orizzontali” metti 4. 😉

Figurati, è un piacere. 😉 Per la trasparenza devi andare sempre su CompizConfig Setting Manager, poi su Desktop Cubico—>Trasparent Cube, e scegli il grado di opacità. 😉

Una volta che metti l’avvio automatico non ci sono altri comandi per utilizzarlo, basta solamente andare nel CompizConfig Settings Manager, e da li puoi scegliere tutti i plugin che vuoi attivare. 😉

Per installare Xgl dovresti dare da terminale questo comando:
sudo apt-get install xserver-xglPerò non sono proprio sicuro, in quanto per adesso non sto utilizzando Ubuntu e quindi non l’ho provato. 😉P.S. Se hai bisogno di qualcos’altro possiamo sentirci via e-mail.
son proprio una rottura scusami, ho provato a scriverti per mail ma mi sa che ti è andata tra la spam…sto cercando di capireche posso fare, visto che ora che ho installato Xgl mi dice che non ho Nvidia, mentre se vedi il post precedente mi diceva di si…cmq ho provato a cercare i driver per la mia Nvidia ge force 7300 ma son finito più volte in vicoli cechi nella ricerca…aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ma solo io non devo avere il maledetto cubo? help :O

Ciao, mi sa che l’e-mail è finita davvero in spam, perchè non l’ho vista proprio, comunque per abilitare i driver vai in Sistema—>Amministrazione—>Driver con restrizioni e metti il segno di spunta, così ti dovrebbero funzionare. 😉

Non saprei che dirti, purtroppo per adesso non sto usando Ubuntu, comunque è molto strano, credo che sia un problema di driver. Se mi devi domandare qualcos’altro ci possiamo sentire via e-mail. 😉
ciao! ho seguito tutta la tua guida ma quando arrivo al punto di installare il programma inserito il programma mi dice:E: Impossibile ottenere il lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock – open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?

Ciao, a quanto ho capito quel file sembra essere già utilizzato da un’altro processo. Prova a riavviare il pc, e vedi se te lo da ancora. Comunque vedi che questa guida era per Ubuntu Feisty, ormai non c’è più bisogno in quanto CompizFusion è già installato in Ubuntu Gutsy. 😉
